 "Jerry Tindell Talks About..." series
In this series of videos by "Video Mike" Kerson, Jerry
works with horses, mules, and ordinary folks at some of his clinics -
teaching them how to develop safe, willing equine partners.
These videos have been carefully planned to keep the
viewer's attention, and to provide information in a way that viewers can
actually use. These are not just "Look What I Can Do!" videos, where an
expert shows off his skills but may not actually teach the viewer what
to do at home with his/her own animal. Actual clinic participants, in
their process of learning to become effective horse and mule handlers,
work through a variety of situations, with Jerry's expert direction.
The music, by former "Sons of the Pioneers"
singer/songwriter/musician Rusty Richards and
singer/songwriter/performer
Dave Stamey,
combined with beautiful photography, make these films a feast for the
senses as well as the mind.

"GROUND
WORK"
You Ride the Horse You Lead
Learn to communicate effectively with
your horse, using only halter and lead rope. Build a solid foundation
for safe and pleasurable riding and driving.
Problems on the halter and lead rope
predict problems under saddle or in harness. Problems in the saddle
reflect problems you see every day while caring for your horse on the
ground.
If you learn to communicate effectively
with your horse or mule from the lead rope, you'll know what to do in
the saddle, even when unexpected things come your way.
Shying, pushiness, running off, "barn
sour" resistance, panicking - all these and other common problems can be
safely and effectively worked out through halter work on the ground.

The video focuses on these essential

Just
wanted to say if anyone is looking for a good starting place with
their horses, this video was a great investment!
Mike Kerson did the
video work and it is excellent - the editing is smooth and logical
and the sound is always clear and easy to hear.
Jerry clearly
presents the exercises and explains them in a way that even
novices can understand. It was clear to me how each exercise would
lead directly into good riding experiences.
Mike (Mike Dibble, the
video recipient) was quickly able to teach Cuervo all the
exercises. They were doing so well I suggested he try them from
Cuervo's back.
Prior to this,
Cuervo had just been mounted and led around for short walks. Mike
mounted up, and to our great pride, Cuervo walked out with a light
leg cue and cluck, willingly turned both directions, stopped when
asked and even backed with just very light rein cues...and, he has
never worn a bit...
