By the time Rachel the Mule
was rescued from abuse and neglect, she had developed every bad behavior
known to equines:
- She was hard to catch.
- She bolted through gates.
- She broke away from her handler.
- She was hard to bridle.
- She would not allow her feet to be handled.
- She would dangerously rear back when tied.
- She would not stand still for saddling.
- She would not stand still for a rider to mount.
- Once mounted, she would bolt, run, and buck her
rider off.
In short, Rachel was one very troubled mule.
Rachel's rescuer brought her to Jerry Tindell as a
last-ditch effort to rehabilitate her. Jerry's solution? START OVER!
Start with the basics of movement and building a connection to Rachel's
mind, then progress through ground work, putting on the saddle, and
finally, First Ride.
This video contains 3 hours of REAL TIME
footage of Jerry Tindell's first morning working with Rachel. And
what a difference a half-day can make!
(PS: In Real Life, Rachel made a
complete recovery and is now a reliable working saddle mule)
